Why did you choose Harley Academy?

I chose Harley Academy after researching numerous training companies throughout the country. I wanted to gain the Level 7 Qualification in Injectables and Harley Academy offered flexibility and the best combination of training components, from the Foundation and Mentoring Days to online learning and ongoing tutor support.

Why did you choose to complete the Level 7 qualification?

I wanted to stand out from the crowd as a well-trained practitioner in a still poorly regulated sector. As a doctor used to studying and training extensively in my field, it felt like the right approach to develop my aesthetics training and career.

How has the Level 7 qualification helped your career and practice?

Without a doubt the Level 7 qualification has provided opportunities that would otherwise have been harder to come by. During my training I was mentored by several experienced practitioners. Not only did I learn practical clinical skills, but I got business and networking tips, useful sector insights and direct connections to potential employers. As a practitioner, it’s so important to have a good support network and the qualification enables this also. Several of my fellow students have become firm friends and colleagues along the way. Since completing the qualification, I have transitioned out of the NHS completely and I now work-full time in aesthetics.

What did you enjoy most about studying with us?

The best part of studying with Harley Academy was the one-to-one Mentoring Days. These were fantastic for consolidating all the units of learning and provided opportunities to quiz experienced practitioners about their own experiences in the industry. These days were personalised to my learning needs and I felt supported at every step.

Do you have any advice for aspiring aesthetics practitioners?

If you’re thinking of a career in aesthetics, do your homework, make a business plan, think about your work/life goals and revisit these often. As with any new business, it will take hard work and commitment to be successful, but if you value autonomy, creativity and making a positive difference to people, this could be the perfect career for you.

What are your career plans now that you have graduated?

I currently work full-time in aesthetics and I’m extending the portfolio of treatments that I offer. For the time being, I am focusing on honing my clinical skills and working with like-minded colleagues. Throughout my working life, I have been involved in education and training and in time, with more experience, I plan to be involved in teaching future practitioners and helping to promote patient safety in aesthetics.
